Top ten youngest U.S. presidentsWhen Barack Obama was invested as the 44th United States president in January 2009, many thought he is the second youngest president in the entire United States history. Well they were wrong, but not by far.
Obama was 47 years and 169 days the day he became president, and despite his young age, he is the fifth youngest president of United States.
The youngest U.S. president was Theodore Roosevelt, born in 1858 and invested as president in September 1901. He was only 42 years and 322 days old at that point and served in office eight years, until March 1909.
The second youngest president is John F. Kennedy. Born in May 29th, 1917 he was invested as United States president at the age of 43 years, 236 days. He tragically ends his term on November 22nd, 1963 assassinated in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 46 years and 177 days.
Bill Clinton is the third youngest president the U.S. history. He was elected at the age of 46 years and 154 days and served two full terms until 20 January 2001. In 2008 he supported his wife to run for the presidency but she lost the elections and now, Hillary Clinton is the United States Secretary of State.
The fourth youngest president of the United States is Ulysses S. Grant. Born in 27thApril 1822, he became president on March 4th, 1869 at the age of 46 years and 311 days. He served two full terms as president until March 4th, 1877.
As you can see, Obama is only the fifth youngest president of the United States, but he is definitely the first African American in the United States history elected for the most important office in state. Currently he is halfway through his first term as president, his term finishing in January 2013.
